Ok Im a new guy on here... I have panels,charge controlers and batteries running a work trailer and my toy hauler. Everything works great.. Im just a DIY Guy playing with this stuff.. So now that I would love to start tying to the grid. Im not sure on the rules with APS.. I know from reading you cant make your own panels. Thats ok. I have an in with a retailer to get my stuff for a good price. Mounting the panels on the roof is not a big deal to me. And wiring them is not a problem. Can you b.....

ok everybody, i have a problem. i would prefer and wanted to mount some pvs to my masonry wall. i was given 2 pvs that are equal to evergreen 205w pvs, but without the certifications evergreen pvs would have. no matter as i will use them in an off grid fashion and the specs are pretty much the same as the evergreen types. the thing im running into here is that there isnt any such thing as a wall mount for pvs it seems. i was envisioning a ground mount turned sideways, but the problem is the cent.....

Connecting batteries in Parallel

I have four 6v 220ah batteries. Ive split them into pairs. Each pair is made of 2 batteries connected in serial. One pair is 12.96v, the other is 13.01v. When I attempt thoughtful the two pairs to each other in parallel to double current, with cables that have fuses in them, the fuses are blowing. I started with 5a fuses and moved up to 7.5a. Im puzzled, Ive done this many times before with no issues. Is the voltage differential enough to be causing this?in series you place the 1st batt.....

I have 2 Sunpower 225 modules and I would like to use them in a mobile off grid system. By mobile in mean in a trailer that can be moved to postpone power for small events. I think the best controller will be the Morning Star TriStar MPPT - 45A. I plan to charge a 12V battery bank and connect a Suprex 2500W inverter. ( I have the modules and inverter already, but not the charge controler) The problem is that the SPR 225 mods need a positive ground biological properly. (I have a lot of grid .....

I have a single 120 watt panel (6.5 amp max) on the roof but Ive yet to ever see a 14.4v (I have 2 Group 24 wet cell batteries in my camper) reading on my Morningstar Remote Meter. Is this normal? The highest Ive ever seen it go is approximately 13.4. Before connecting the panel to the controller I was pulling 18v regularly. I used 10-gauge wir.....

• Sailboat application
  New guy to panels. Here is my situation...just purchased 3 Kyocera 135 watt panels with Blue Sky 3024iL controller for my 40 sailboat. Panels will be mounted on a new arch Im having installed on my boat. Electricity, even DC, is not my strong point. My basic questions follow: 1. • Questions for a Newbie
  Have a 2400 surge and 1200 running watt power inverter. Have it connected to one 115 AH deep cycle marine battery. It runs a plasma 42", fan, 2 lights with no problems. It will however not run my refrigerator. Just not enough power to even get it going. You can hear the motor at approximately 50% power and the light inside the refrigerator at approximately 70% brightness compared to being directly connected to AC power.   Hi all, I recently purchased four (pricey) Surrette batteries, and am hoping for advice as to to disregard adding more panels to keep them happy is overkill. My off-grid system: 546 amphr batteries @ 24 volts Max daily usage 2000 watts Outback MX-60 controller Xantrex DR-2424 inverter 850 watts panels Currently my system is floating between 2 & 3 pm when Im home and to inform when Im not. • Small system for an RV
  Im trying to figure out if I can fit a small PV system on my little RV, and if its worth it. I have enough rooftop for a total of 270W of panels. I can fit an MPPT controller inside. So far so good. My usage is governed by my DC fridge, which on a moderate temp day uses 17 AH. On a hot day with no breeze and in direct sunlight, it uses approximately 50 AH. Will the panels generate enough AH to make up for what the fridge uses? I have batteries and such, so I can store excess power, but my.....

• 45 watt solar panel wiring, battery to far away? Wire gage?
  I have a new Harbor Freight 45 watt solar panel on my motorhome and am doing the wiring (16 gage). The controller that comes with it is mounted right above the door (door is a right commerce trade the cab) very close to the panel itself so thats no problem, but now to get to the battery from the controller is approximately 20 of wire! Is that going to cut the power Im getting from the panel? I could if I really have to remount the battery closer, but its still 16 of wire to get it there. The oth.....

I know it would consist of a 12v solar panel, and a battery, but what else is required to power a 12v appliance, day or night?if you think of your car as an example, you need some wire and a fuse panel between the battery and the unit.   If,:, with adding a new string of 86v golf cart batts, to an old string of 8 it can lessen the life of the new one as they team up,, my question is, When charging will they even out when equalizing. I would think that as they discharge the old one will drag the new one down to its level?? How best to get the best out of this awkward situation without buying a new string to match .
